About the event

This four-night course is designed for those with no or very little experience in Watercolours. Focus will be on materials (paints, brushes, papers), colour theory and blending, saving “the white”, basic washes and other introductory techniques. At completion, students will be able to lay down a variegated wash, do wet into wet, wet into dry techniques, and have a basic understanding of how “water” makes “watercolours” work.

Students should not purchase any new watercolour materials for this course. A materials kit is available for purchase when you register. (If you currently have watercolour supplies, bring them to the first class.)

Supply List (from Home) for Intro to Watercolours:

-Optional notebook & pen for taking notes ( sheets will be handed out each class)

-HB or #2 pencil and soft eraser

-2 plastic water containers (cleaned empty cottage cheese or sour cream tubs work great)

-Plastic or old china plate to be used as your palette - not paper or foam plates

-Old clean rag, tea towel etc. to be used for your brushes

-Paper towels

-Board or support for mounting your paper – not required for 1st class, we will be discussing options for this during the first class

-Masking tape or ‘painters’ tape – not scotch tape

-Any watercolour brushes or paints you may already own – Please do not buy new unless you buy the Materials Kit at registration.
