Advanced Book Making Workshop 

In this class we will start with an old hardcover book that we carefully remove the book pages from before starting. The size of the jacket will determine the size of or signatures and the number of pages. In this class we will start with full sheets of 90 pound watercolour paper, measure, mark, tear, and fold into signatures. We then measure, mark and pierce our signatures for our books. We will then stitch them together with a binding stitch that allows the book to lay flat to work in with paint and collage. The signatures are stitched together and then stitched to a binder strip that is eventually glued in spine of book. There are several steps to strengthen the book jacket before we glue our bound signatures into the spine All materials are supplied and included in cost of workshop.
